The top six college football teams in the AP Top 25 remained unchanged this week, but not all was quiet in the rankings: The Big 12 has five teams in the poll for the first time this season, Vanderbilt earned its highest ranking in 88 years and LSU dropped out.
Vanderbilt climbed to its highest ranking since 1947 and Georgia Tech surged into the top 10 as nine AP Top 25 teams, including four from the top 10, fell during a wild Week 8 in college football.
The top four seeds remain unchanged on the College Football Playoff bracket based on The Top 25 released Sunday, but three of the four first-round matchups would change and Memphis returned as the Group of Five representative.
